Goldfeder's Modern Election Law -- Third Edition
Click here for PDF Table of Contents LOOSE-LEAF 8 1/2 X 10 INCH BINDER WITH DIVIDERS, 716 PAGES. INTRODUCTION It is very gratifying that the first two editions of this book received such positive reviews in The New York Times, The New York Law Journal, The New York State Bar Journal, Ballot Access News and the Election Law Journal. More importantly, MODERN ELECTION LAW has been embraced by the bench and bar, and has increasingly been cited in lawyers’ briefs and courts’ decisions. (In a supreme irony, a court recently quoted the book at length — and held against my client!) Journalists have also routinely relied on it to figure out what the election law provides when, for example, public officials get convicted or resign; what the eligibility requirements are for our many city, state, county, town and village offices; how special elections work; and the intricacy of campaign finance and tax laws. Many candidates and political operatives have confided that they, too, keep a copy nearby to make sure they are following the law. I am very pleased that the book is being put to such good use. This Third Edition is greatly expanded from the earlier versions, with up-to-date citations through December 2011, and brand new or revised chapters. I have added to the book in-depth explanations of campaign finance laws; the way Initiative and Referendum work in our state, cities, town and villages; an historical analysis of election law relating to the nomination and election of President of the United States; and an entire chapter devoted to New York’s new Election Reform and Modernization Act. Also included are samples of a variety of pleadings, as well as Board of Elections and campaign finance forms for New York State and New York City. There are also very detailed indexes to assist the reader in locating particular subjects, cases, articles, statutes or political personalities. Topics covered include:
Also includes the NYS Board of Election Rules, the NYS Election Law, plus the following forms:

Opinions of the NYS Attorney General
Click for PDF Excerpt LOOSE-LEAF 8 1/2 X 10 INCHE BINDER WITH DIVIDERS. As head of the Department of Law, the Attorney General is both the "People's Lawyer" and the State's chief legal officer. The Opinions of the New York State Attorney General are issued in response to requests by state agency officials and local government attorneys. The opinions fall into two broad categories, formal and informal opinions. Formal opinions are those issued to state departments and agencies. They are denominated "formal" because the Attorney General signs them as chief legal officer of the State. Informal opinions are issued to local governments at the request of the attorney for the local government, who is the municipality's chief legal officer. Opinions issued to the municipal attorney are denominated "informal" because it is ultimately the responsibility of the municipal attorney to provide advice to the local government. The Opinions of the New York State Attorney General also includes a Subject Index, Statutory Reference Table and Recent Judicial Opinions. Opinions of the NYS Attorney General: Pricing
